Tradelink proudly joins the HKMA's Expert Panel on Project Cargox to facilitate trade finance through cargo data

7 May 2025

Tradelink is pleased to announce its participation in the newly established Expert Panel on Project Cargox on 28 Apr 2025, which was initiated by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority ("HKMA") to harness the power of cargo data to improve the efficiency of trade finance, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises ("SMEs").

The panel comprises industry experts and key stakeholders from cargo data providers, trade associations, banks, credit reference agencies and government agencies with a mission to leverage cargo data to streamline trade finance processes, develop digital solutions to improve SMEs' accessibility to trade finance and explore connections with international data partners via Commercial Data Interchange ("CDI") to facilitate the trade financing for banks in Hong Kong.

Tradelink's Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Yuen Man Chung, Tommy S.B.S., stated, "Tradelink has been providing Government Electronic Trading Services to the Hong Kong import & export trade and logistics community for over three decades and has been a data provider for the CDI since 2022. We understand the pain points faced by SMEs in trade finance, such as the need for agile financial services and cross-border payments. We are delighted to join the Expert Panel on Project Cargox to explore how we can better share and utilise trade data through the CDI. Additionally, we will contribute our expertise on digital solutions, such as digital identity authentication for individuals and corporations, to enhance the security and authenticity of the cargo data."

Tradelink is committed to offering a comprehensive suite of smart digital trade solutions that empower our customers to remain competitive in an evolving market. We look forward to collaborating closely with all panel members to achieve the objectives of Project Cargox and enhance the trade finance landscape in Hong Kong.
