Digi-Sign CA Key Rollover in May 2008

18 March 2008

As a certification authority recognized under the Electronic Transactions Ordinance of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Digi-Sign Certification Services Limited ("Digi-Sign") is dedicated to implementing the best practices of Public Key Infrastructure.

Digi-Sign has started its plan to perform the ID-Cert Root CA and ID-Cert Signing CA key rollover in accordance with its CA life cycle management plan laid down in Appendix 3 of its Certification Practice Statement (CPS) (www.dg-sign.com/document/cps.pdf).

According to the plan, Digi-Sign will set up a new CA hierarchy with a new ID-Cert Root CA ("ID-Cert Root CA Cert 1") certificate and a new ID-Cert Signing CA ("ID-Cert Signing CA Cert 1") certificate by the end of April 2008. Digi-Sign plans to issue all classes of ID-Cert from this new CA hierarchy starting from May 2008.

Subscribers of ID-Cert can continue to use their existing ID-Cert until its natural expiry unless otherwise revoked or suspended. Parties relying on ID-Cert issued by the new CA hierarchy should be capable of checking the new ID-Cert Root CA certificate, the new ID-Cert Signing CA certificate and the new ID-Cert Certificate Revocation Lists for the verification of digital signature of the subscriber in accordance with Digi-Sign's CPS with updates to be released shortly. Meanwhile relying party can contact Digi-Sign Hotline (29178833) for any assistance on any work it may require to support the ID-Cert issued by the Digi-Sign new CA hierarchy.
